Game on Toronto! Project
As the Host City of the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, Toronto will welcome 10,000+ athletes, coaches and officials. The city will also be visited by approximately 250,000 sport spectators – coming to watch the Games, cheer on the athletes and be a part of the Pan Am/Parapan Am experience.
Toronto City Council has endorsed a Showcase Program to support the City’s efforts in preparing for the Games and fulfilling our Host City role. The program has many projects and initiatives that aim to boost economic development and tourism, foster sport development and healthy living, increase resident engagement in the Games, deliver cultural celebrations and extend the benefits of the TORONTO 2015 Games across the city.
Game On Toronto! will provide short-term funding to Toronto non-profit community groups, non-profit sports clubs, leagues and associations for sports development projects that:
- Encourage people from diverse backgrounds to learn and play sports together
- Re-energize existing sport programs
- Introduce or establish new sport
- Build sport volunteerism through skills development and training.
