Canadian Roy Blanche Head Coach of Al-Arabi SC making waves in the Gulf

On October 12th, 2016 Roy Blanche, Head Coach and Technical Director, of FCT departed for Kuwait City on contract for club giants Al-Arabi SC. The contract had him working as Assistant coach for the green giants of Kuwait, a top sports club in the Kuwait National Futsal League, which started its pre-season one month prior.

The Kuwaiti club had a series of friendly matches with a record of 2 losses and 2 ties prior to the launch of the 2016/2017 Kuwait National Futsal League; which kicked off October 29th with Al-Arabi SC suffering two losses against Al-Salmiya SC (1-0) and to Kazma SC (7-1).

On November 8th, 2016, Roy Blanche was promoted and took over the reigns as Head Coach for Al-Arabi SC where he began working immediately with the team. With the quick transition and little time working with the team; Al-Arabi SC was able to secure a 8-0 victory over Al-Jahra SC. The team then faced its toughest challenge heading into the derby vs Qadsia which ended in a 4-3 loss for Al-Arabi SC. In a time of change and restructuring Head Coach Roy Blanche managed to secure a second shut out 18-0 win over Al-Salibikhaet followed by a 10-6 win over 1st place team in the Kuwait National Futsal League Al-Yarmouk SC.

Roy Blanche is no estranged Professional Futsal Coach to the middle east as he has been linked to Al-Arabi SC when he was hired for the 2012/2013 season. He was assistant coach and goalkeeper coach for the 1st and U17 team that went on to win three medals in the first season. In his 2nd season with Al-Arabi SC (2013/2014) Roy Blanche was head coach for the U18 team and Assistant Coach for the 1st team where he received a silver metal in the Super Cup of the 1st division and received a bronze medal with the U18 in the Kings Cup. Immediately after the season Roy Blanche was offered a position with the Kuwait National Futsal Team as Goalkeeper Coach. They participated in a 15-day training camp in Murcia, Spain where they played many top clubs like El Pozo Murcia and Cartagena. Following the Spain camp, the team traveled to Vietnam for the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship, placing 4th in Asia.
