On October 25th the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) and Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) hosted a FIFA Futsal Coaching Course in the Peel-Halton area.
The course was held over 8 hours and featured theory and practical sessions which focused on the Laws of the Game, rotations, how to carry-out a futsal session and drill specific exercises.
Coaches from around the GTA in addition to Ottawa and Sarnia were in attendance and all eager to take in as much futsal knowledge from CSA Futsal Instructor Geraldo Ferrari and Gabriel Assis, Coordinator for Referee Development at The OSA.
Futsal Club Toronto staff were all in attendance for the course and as a futsal club we look forward to many more futsal opportunities and hope to soon see a FIFA Futsal Level 1, 2 and 3 course being hosted by either association, Technical Director Roy Blanche commented, “The latter part of 2014 has been very positive for futsal in Ontario as Futsal Club Toronto represented Canada at the inaugural CONCACAF Futsal Club Championship, the hosting of a futsal coaching course and the introduction of the Peel-Halton Futsal League are all a great foundation for the sport”.
The OSA is currently moving the sport of futsal forward in competitions and education and we are positive we will see greater opportunities in the future for players, referees, coaches and clubs.”
