MICHAEL STEFANO assumes new Technical Advisor role

We are proud to announce Michael Stefano who assumes the new role as Technical Advisor for Futsal Club Toronto’s Soccer Program effective immediately.

With the recent growth of the club the position as Technical Advisor of Soccer will provide greater expertise to current club coaches and players as they transition and grow in the field of soccer. With a strong technical foundation in futsal it is vital that we continue to foster the growth and maturity of players as they transition into soccer and we believe Micheal Stefano, who has become the first Canadian to have earned an ‘A’ international Degree with the Professional Coaches’ Association of Argentina (AFA), can effectively take on this responsibility at the club.

Michael Stefano has an extensive back ground working in soccer while currently in his second season as Pod 2C head coach and fifth season with the Kia Toronto FC Academy.

Stefano previously held roles as head coach of the Senior Kia Toronto FC Academy team, head coach of the Kia Toronto FC Academy U-16 team and as an assistant coach within the Academy. During the 2014 campaign in the inaugural League 1 Ontario season, he led the Senior Academy team to undefeated regular season capturing the League 1 Ontario Championship and the Inter-Provincial Cup Championship. He has also worked under Danny Dichio and Jimmy Brennan during his time with the Academy.

Prior to joining the Academy, Stefano served as the technical director for West Toronto United Football Club. He also worked with the North York Soccer Association District Program. As a player, Stefano played for Club Uruguay in the OYSL and went on trial in Italy during the summer and fall of 1999 with three different clubs. In 2001, he won the TDCAA (Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association) Soccer Championship with St. Basil-the-Great College School.

We are extremely excited to see Michael Stefano take on this role as we enter into the 2016/2017 Indoor Season and we do believe his expertise will be a great contribution to the development of our club players and staff.
