PROGRAM CURRICULUM
The five-day training program comprises soccer and futsal training, as well as classroom sessions that focus on all aspects of sport and the sporting industry. The curriculum also includes activities that emphasize the mental and physical well being and understanding of our athletes.
The program operates out of the Etobicoke Olympium and Centennial Park with a daily schedule as outlined (subject to change):
Monday - In-class session and soccer / futsal training.
Tuesday - In-class session, strength & conditioning with Competitive Edge and 3 v3 games.
Wednesday - In-class documentaries, swimming, yoga with Power Yoga Canada (indoor season) and field trip day.
Thursday - In-class session and soccer / futsal training.
Friday - In-class session and “Friday Games” tournament.
FOCUS ON FOUR DEVELOPMENT COMPONENTS
PSYCHOLOGICAL
Focuses on the enhancement of the student’s competence, commitment and mental toughness. The program includes mental coaching and resilience skill building using regularly reviewed modules.
TECHNICAL
Focuses on training to improve the athlete’s skills in distribution, dribbling, first touch, 1 v 1 attacking and defending.
SOCIOLOGICAL
Focuses on improving and fostering student athletes in terms of their maturity and responsibility, leadership skills, relationships on and off the field and communicating with their team, coaches and trainers.
PHYSIOLOGICAL
Focuses on the player’s physicality by working with a professional Strength and Condition coach. Athletes focus on proper movement skills, improving sprinting mechanics, the basics of speed, as well as agility and body weight strengthening. Yoga sessions also help athletes focus on stretching and breathing.
